Venue: Juraj Páleš Institute, Bottova 15, Levoča, Slovakia
Following the tradition of the Carthusian Cloister in Levoča (founded in 1454), the Jesuit Convict in Levoča (founded in 1724) with their elite school providing higher education to noble families, and the Pedagogical Institute of Spišská Kapitula (founded in 1819) the Faculty of Education of the Catholic University in Ružomberok was founded in 1995. As the university’s extension, the Institute of Juraj Páleš was opened in Levoča in 2008. Juraj Páleš was appointed the first director of the Pedagogical Institute in Spišká Kapitula in 1818. In 1819 in Levoča, he published the first book of Pedagogy written in then standard Slovak language – Bernolak’s Slovak.
