Travel

By plane:
The closest airports to Brasov  are:  Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport (166 km far from Brasov)  and Sibiu International Airport (140 km). Organizers will provide car transport from the airport to the conference venue and back. A trip from Bucharest airport typically takes 2.5 hours and a trip from Sibiu airport, 2 hours.

Interested participants are asked to inform the organizers on their flight schedule at nico.voicu@unitbv.ro.

By train:
Brasov is a major Romanian railway hub. From the capital city Bucharest there are 18 trains daily and there are also frequent trains from other cities. There are 3 direct international trains from/to Budapest. One of them continues to Vienna and another to Bratislava and Prague. Trains to other western European cities run via Budapest.

By car:
Aside from the train, car is one of the most popular ways of reaching Braşov.  Here are the most frequently  used connections:

  • Highway A1 from Budapest-Szeged-Arad-Timisoara-Sibiu. From Sibiu, there is a 2-hour drive on E68 to Brasov.
  • Coming from the northwest, use E60: Oradea - Cluj-Napoca-Targu-Mures-Sighisoara-Brasov.  The city of Cluj-Napoca and its sorroundings can be avoided using a short (60km) section of the A3 highway. Also, the city of Targu Mures can be bypassed by DJ 151D Ungheni-Acatari.
  • From Bucharest city, take A3 highway to Ploiesti, then use E60 to Brasov.

Inside the city:
Taxis are very popular in Brasov. Still, in order to avoid being cheated, use only registered taxis. These are obliged to have the price written on the front right door. The typical price is 1.99 RON (0.43 Eur) per kilometer.
Buses are also a good option, a 2-trips bus ticket costs 4 RON (0.86 Eur).

In the case of any requirements or questions please contact the organizers.
